Giving Tuesday: Gift Guide 1

Every year we all go crazy over Black Friday deals and the beginning of the Christmas season. We talk about Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, but a trend that has begun in the last few years is Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is all about giving back and donating to the organizations we support. This can be monetary or with volunteer work, whichever you prefer.

Here is a list of my favorite charities that I donate to often. What charities do you support?

ASPCA – www.aspca.org/

The ASPCA is the largest animal welfare organization in the world. Their influence extends all over the country and their main mission is to protect animals and their well being in the eyes of the law. The help animals on a macro level by lobbying for animal welfare laws, and also on a micro level by working to place animals into loving homes and rescue animals out of bad situations.

Providence Animal Center – www.providenceac.org/

Providence Animal Center is where we got our pup, Milo. We have stayed in touch with his foster family and have been supporters of their mission. This is our local shelter, so I urge you to look up your local shelter to see what help they need.

Oxfam America – www.oxfamamerica.org/

Oxfam is an organization that works to end poverty. Oxfam was founded over 70 years ago and is in more than 90 countries all across the globe. Another great thing is money can be diverted to help humanitarian crisis in these countries, such as restoring Puerto Rico’s electricity and infrastructure after Hurricane Maria.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – www.stjude.org/give.html

In college, I was the President of the St. Jude’s Charity Club. We ran events to raise money for St. Jude’s and to this day I still give back to them. St. Jude’s works on donations to provide medical care to sick children. Families never have to pay out of pocket for medical expenses, and St. Jude’s often goes above medical help with rental vouchers and lost wages help.

Smile.Amazon.com – www.smile.amazon.com/

Shopping at Amazon can give back to any organization you are passionate about! I always make sure that I purchase from Smile at Amazon for any large purchase. This is an easy way to give back anytime you order.

great ideas! different ideas – sometimes we don’t need material things and giving to the less fortunate feels better!

These are some great ideas, it’s really important to remember these ideas while walking around the mall aimlessly trying to figure out what to get the person who has everything.

Wonderful post! I love the idea of giving back. Time is the only thing no one is able to get back. We might as well make it count while we are here. 🙂
