Transition from Summer to Fall with Basic Dresses
Transitioning from summer to fall is tough for me. When Labor Day weekend is over and the pumpkin spice latte is released, I am ready for it to be 55 degrees and the leaves to be falling. Unfortunately, fall doesn’t work that way and I’m stuck with the month of September bouncing from 80 to 50 degrees.
So I find it important to be able to have a few transition pieces. I need to get my fall fix without sweating, because I’m desperately trying to wear a cable knit sweater.
My favorite pieces to do this with are typically summer dresses. Dresses are easy; you can go from sandals to boots in five minutes.
The two dresses I’m styling are a Brenton style striped dress and a black t-shirt dress. I recommend having both of these dresses in your closet because they are wonderful transitional pieces. They are both basic style dresses you can find in most stores, just pay attention to how lightweight the material is. This striped dress you can wear on 55 degree days and this t-shirt dress I’ve worn in 95 degree heat.
My plan for the rest of the month is to count down until October and grab any moment with a sweater I can. What are your favorite traditional pieces? Let me know in the comments!
